Welcome to Limns, a monthly curation of thought and image. We have a singular goal: to reinvest wonder and curiosity in all the things we don’t think twice about.
Here’s how it works. Every two weeks, writer Finnegan Shepard and artist Mischa de Stroumillo select a single word and attempt to add depth, complications, and insight to our understanding of the concept through a linguistic-visual reflection. Any word is open for exploration, from “longing” to “fire” to “cups.” We do this by getting to the ‘roots’ of the idea: starting with the origins and history of the word itself, we build upwards, wherever it leads.
These digestible, philosophical ruminations can be enjoyed with a ritualistic Sunday cup of coffee, on the train, or in heated debate with a friend. Please note: Limns won’t give you answers. In fact, it’s more likely to unsettle your working definitions of things than to provide you with a singular truth. Consume responsibly, share generously, and think deeply.
Subscribers are also welcome to help steer the ship. Email your concept suggestions to limnsnewsletter@gmail.com. Every month a member’s suggestion is picked at random.
Oh, and did we mention? Year-long subscribers will receive one of Mischa’s gorgeous prints, free of charge. Think of it is as ours thanks for being a part of the Limns community.
